All-natural Household Bug Sprays
Are you tired of wasting your money on bug sprays that don’t work or contain toxic chemicals? There is an easier and cheaper way of getting rid of those stubborn household pests; you may even be able to use some things in your house to help you out. There are many methods and household concoctions that are all-natural and do not contain harmful fumes around your children or pets.
Essential Oils Bug Spray
Essential oil bug spray is one of the most well-known and helpful bug sprays around. In order to make this concoction you only need an eight ounce spray bottle which you will fill halfway full with either distilled water or with boiled water. You can purchase some witch hazel at your nearest pharmacy and fill the other half of the bottle with the witch hazel. You add a half of a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin and thirty to fifty drops of the oil that you wish to use. Common oils that most people use include rosemary, cloves, lavender, eucalyptus, or cinnamon. This homemade bug spray will make your house smell fresh and clean and keep those stubborn flies and unwanted insects away.
Dried Herb Sprays
Another bug spray that you can use includes fresh or dried herbs. What you do is boil one cup of water and add four tablespoons of dried herbs such as peppermint, spearmint, or lavender. You can even make a cinnamon-smelling spray to make your house smell more like the holidays. You mix these ingredients well and strain the herbs out after you are finished. You mix the water with one cup of witch hazel or alcohol and put in a spray bottle to use on those pests.
These household sprays are good to use if you have ants, carpenter ants, cockroaches, crickets, pill bugs, silverfish, spiders, and other insects in your house. If you have an ant infestation, a little bit of soapy water will work great to get rid of them. Soapy water also works great if you have cockroaches if you spray it directly onto them. Neem oil is also great to keep around the house to keep any mosquitoes and fleas away.
All natural insect repellent only takes a few minutes to make and it is more effective than most bug sprays that you can purchase at your store. Most homemade recipes involve mixing and matching vegetable oils, aloe vera gel, witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, and distilled water. If you have all of those things in your house, it might save you time and money to whip something up really quick.
These sprays are excellent home remedies to keep bugs away, but they of course won’t be able to handle an infestation.
